The excerpt from Michel Butor’s text “Der Traum des Jiří Kolář” [The dream of Jiří Kolář] could be printed on a single page of the book, but it is distributed across all of the translucent pages. In some cases, words are broken up between pages in a way that changes their meaning, and are completed again when the translucent sheets are overlaid. Each text section is in the same position that it would have on a complete printed page. Layered within the depth of the translucent-paper book, this creates a space of floating letters, words and sentence fragments. The theme of separation and composition (through the translucency of the paper) is echoed at the beginning and end of the book with a photograph that spreads across three pages.
